Extended warranty programs can save you money in the long run
Owning older vehicles can become quite a costly exercise, especially if they are prone to breaking down. There are many horror stories where individuals did not purchase an extended auto warranty, and have had to pay close to what the car is worth to actually get it fixed. But before you purchase that extended warranty, make sure you include the following basic items into the warranty. The first thing you should definitely ensure is that road side assistance and towing is included. The warranty may solely provide for fixing of the vehicle, but usually you do not break down right outside the repair workshop, and have to get your broken down vehicle to the workshop or the yard. This can become costly if you do not have the road side assistance cover or the towing assistance. Some premium providers also provide lock-out assistance, but these are usually a small premium that you pay on top of the auto warranty. A car rental option is also sometimes provided by larger more established auto warranty providers. This can ease the burden of having to pay for car rental when your own car is being worked on. Remember that it is infinitely more inconvenient when you do not have a set of wheels to get you around, and this option is usually beneficial in this regard. Sometimes your vehicle may take over a week to fix, as old car parts are not readily available, and therefore a car rental option is definitely something we suggest you take out as well.
